11w2d: I got to see my babies!

Today was good. I went to the perinatologist's office for the first time and I liked it. The staff was nice and helpful and I was happy to see a doctor, even if briefly, that really knew about twin pregnancy.  I felt comfortable with her and she will continue to follow me every 4 weeks to check the babies growth. I will go back June 13th and then again July 16th, which will be our gender scan to find out what we are having!  She will follow me regardless of what OB I choose as she is the perinatologist for the hospital where I will deliver.

I had an ultrasound today AND it wasn't transvaginal, which means now they are doing it on the belly when I am fully clothed. It was a pleasant change of pace. The babies were measuring at 11 weeks 2 days and 11 weeks 5 days and their heart rates were strong at 155 and in the 160s. They were VERY active today and I got to see them moving all around. It was really nice to know they seem to be doing well.

I got some blood drawn and got weighed. I am 154 lbs. which is about 6 lbs of weight gain for me. It's hard to know for sure how much weight I gained during IVF because I didn't want to quantify in pounds my bloated ovaries, but I think my weight going into pregnancy was about 148. I wasn't so prepared this time with a list of questions because I wasn't sure what to expect with the appointment, but I will have more questions for the doctor next time.

Here are some pics from today of my lovely babies:

Yes, this one is split screen! No longer on one field of view. They were measuring about 2" long today! I love how you can see their profiles in this picture, they look so human!

I might not see them again until June 13th (which is also my oldest niece's 6th birthday!) so I look forward to then. Lots more monitoring and appointments between now and then, but I am feeling okay about it. Trying to take it one day at a time. One of these days I will start feeling more comfortable about it all :)
