9w5d- Graduation & moving babies!

Apparently, a fetus grows a lot from 8.5 weeks to almost 10 weeks, especially when you have 9 days instead of just 7 between appointments! Today was my LAST day at the fertility clinic- I officially have graduated! The doctor says both babies are doing really well and measuring on target with heart rates of 165 and 170, which is great! But the most exciting part is that we actually saw little arms, legs, and heads and the babies were moving! It was so amazing to see. One even looked like it was sucking its thumb.

Here's a great shot of one of them:
It's crazy how you can really actually see the head and little parts this week. It was so amazing to see them as little people and not just blobs. I will upload and post more ultrasound pictures soon, but I wanted to get this one up.

My appointment with the regular OB is next week on Wednesday. I am excited to see what he'll say about my plan for the coming months. In reality, I will be carrying these babies for 28 more weeks at most, which is crazy to think about. I am nearly to the very crucial 12 weeks (I will be 10 weeks on Sunday) and I am excited for these milestones we didn't get to last time. We plan to find out genders, which should happen sometime in the 18-20 week range (which would be early July).

As for me, I am starting to see a little belly. Clothing is not fitting and I am moving to maternity or stretchy things (read: workout clothing). I don't know how much weight I've gained as I haven't stepped on a scale since before this IVF cycle, but rest assured I have a few extra pounds :) The weight gain goals for twins are more aggressive than a single pregnancy. The American Pregnancy Associate recommends that a mother of twins gain 24 lbs by 24 weeks gestation. Since twins often have less time to grow, it's important for the development of the placenta and babies to gain weight earlier. It is recommended that I gain 35-45 lbs in the course of the pregnancy. In other words, I will not be in top shape for triathlon! I have been feeling okay, still pretty constant headaches and very tired, but still not a lot of nausea. I know it could be a lot worse!

I will post here after my appointment on Wednesday. The scariest part is almost over and we are so grateful for these two little babies! :)
