Last night I started shots. For the first few days, I do two subcutaneous shots (so not into a vein, just into skin and fat).
The first one, Bravelle, I have to mix these 5 vials into 1ml of normal saline:
I draw up 1ml of saline, and then inject it into the first vial, mix it, and pull the solution back up. I do that for each of the 5 vials, until all 5 are mixed in the 1ml of saline. Then, I put on a 1/2 inch sub-q needle, and put it in my stomach fat. This one stings a bit.
The second shot is just a small amount of HCG using an insulin syringe, so it's not quite as bad as it's only 1/10 of an milliliter to inject.
The first time I did a shot last round, I had an anxiety attack. I HATE needles. I cried and shook and my husband had to do it for me. But, I got more used to it as time went on, what took 10 minutes of me wanting to inject myself turned into a few seconds. By the last night of shots last November, I went into the bathroom of a local restaurant and just did it. Luckily no one walked in on me :) But, injecting yourself is still a tough thing to do!
For the first few days I'll feel normal, then I'll feel like I can only wear sweatpants because my ovaries are so large and bloated! Luckily I don't feel as bad of emotional/hormonal side effects as I did with clomid, at least not the last round.
