Day 6 monitoring appointment

This morning's appointment did not go too well. Basically, my follicles have not really grown over the last 2 days despite being on a huge dose of Bravelle. 

The largest dark area is actually an artery. If you look and see the small 2 black dots in the upper half of the picture near the center, those are 2 small follicles. They should be bigger than that after 5 days of stimulation drugs. 

The doctor will call me later with hormone level results and to talk about what could be doing on. I have low hormone levels to begin with: my estrogen is just naturally low. But, it should be higher than it is when I am on these doses of gonadotropins (Bravelle). I was slower to stimulate last cycle (although still better than this), and I was also on about half the dose. 

This morning was rough on me and there were tears. Something not going the way it should is just a painful reminder of where I am in the first place: at a fertility doctor at age 33, putting myself through something that is really hard and costly. And it sucks. And when something doesn't go according to plan, it just sort of hits you like a ton of bricks. 

I am waiting a call from the doctor to see what my hormone levels look like today and see what he thinks about the rest of the cycle. 

UPDATE: 12 noon call- My doctor called to review my blood work. My estrogen (actually measured as estradiol or E2) is up to 99 from 40. The nurse said this morning she'd like to see it over 200 today, but my doc said he thinks I am just slower to respond. He said last cycle I was also slower to respond, but for some reason it's taking higher doses this time. I am on 450 units of Bravelle now, which was confirmed to me as the max dose. I asked about increasing the dose, but as the doctor explained it, the glass of water is full and if you keep adding to it, it doesn't matter. So this is it. Based on my last cycle (when everything really went smoothly), he said he'd expect me to still be okay in this cycle. He will be in the office Saturday morning to do my ultrasound and see how I am doing. I am starting to notice my ovaries a bit today, so hopefully that means they are growing.
