Blood test: confirmed positive!

The doctor just called to confirm: I am pregnant! I am 4 weeks and 1 day along and my HCG is 479.  The doctor said that is a "very strong" number. To compare to last time, my first blood test was at 4 weeks and 2 days along and it was 305. As you can see from the chart, it's on the higher side, so hopefully that is indicative of a strong, healthy pregnancy (although as I have learned there are no guarantees)!

I would be 4 weeks from LMP.... sort of. The medical world calculates due dates from the first day of your last period, which doesn't really apply for people that do IVF. So, another way to do it is saying you are 2 weeks along at date of conception, which we know happened in the lab on March 10. Since it's been 2 weeks and 1 day since then, that means I am 4 weeks and 1 day along now. 

The real "test" comes on Wednesday and Friday when we see if the numbers are doubling every 48 hours.  Let's hope that is the case! The doctor said once my HCG is 1500-2000, we can schedule an ultrasound, which may be early next week. 

I am so happy to be at this point but still feeling very cautious. I will continue to update each step along the way!
