Day 12 Monitoring Appointment

Today was okay. The fact that this cycle is not going as smoothly as the last and the length of this cycle is taking its toll. Between my three daily shots and the blood draws, I am feeling like a pin cushion.

My follicles are sort of all over the place. I have a few at 17mm, I have a few at 13mm and then I also have some tiny ones that probably won't amount to much. What this means for me is no definitive answers. I have to go back tomorrow to see how my follicles are looking, and then they will make a decision if I have to have another day of stimulation (Bravelle). Depending on what it looks like tomorrow, I might have to drive directly from the appointment to a specialty pharmacy that carries these meds and get more just for tomorrow, as I only have enough to get through today. This will no doubt take 3 hours of my day. Oh, and then I have to work my full-time job.

Nevertheless, I am in the home stretch now, with hopefully just a few more days of shots to go. Hopefully tomorrow I will know for sure when ER will be.

Left ovary is producing some bigger follicles:

You can see the lines measuring the big follicle on the left, about 17mm.

This made me and the nurse laugh. It looks like a face, right? Oh right ovary, you are funny.

I am trying to take it a day at a time, but looking forward is very daunting: egg retrieval means going under sedation for the 5th time in 6 months, then you wait on pins and needles for the next 3-5 days for the daily embyrologist report telling you how your embryos are doing, then you go in for transfer. Then you WAIT. For almost 2 weeks. And that's when the real the terror sets in: What if all this doesn't work? What if I have to do it again? What if it does work and I miscarry again? No doubt there will be blog posts about this in days to come.

Update: 2:30pm- Call from the nurse, no real news here. Estradiol is climbing (1,314) and I need to continue on my same meds til tomorrow morning when they see me again.
