Those follicles are finally ready!
I was very happy this morning when the doctor came into my scan to confirm that yes, I look ready! He said he doesn't really care what my estrogen is at this point, the follicles are large enough. That means I only have 2 shots remaining for the rest of this cycle: one cetrotide this morning (to keep me from ovulating early), and then the HCG trigger shot tonight at 7pm to make my eggs ready for retrieval, exactly 36 hours before retrieval, which will be Sunday at 8am (daylight savings this weekend).
I am really happy that we've finally made it to this point. I have a "day off" tomorrow from both shots and appointments. Sunday morning I go in at 7am, get prepped with an IV line and IV fluids and get some fentanyl and propofol for "twilight sedation" as it's called. They will go in and pull out all the fluid from each of those follicles via a transvaginal needle (it's good I am under for this). We hope that there is a mature egg each follicle.
Last time, I woke up in quite a bit of pain, but I am not too worried about that. I just want to get some good eggs. Last time, they got 10 eggs, 8 were mature, and 6 fertilized. More embryos means a better batch to choose from and maybe some to freeze. But really, I just want one to stick. That would be the best thing ever.
I'll let you know how Sunday morning goes! Wish us luck!
